It shouldn't be too hard to find a guy who has been friended at least once in his life. Also known as friend-zoned, this is what happens when a guy is in love with a girl, but she always sees him as just a friend. At least once she'll say something like "I wish I could find a good guy like you", but not actually giving him a shot. This works the opposite way as well. Easy Does It
It may not be a good idea to just blurt out "I want to date you". Instead, keep building on your friendship as you have been but dropping in some minor adjustments. Smile at him more. Hang out with him more than you usually do. Get closer to him in various aspects of his life so he knows how much you care and relies on your companionship.
Treat Him Differently
If he doesn't already have romantic feelings for you and still sees you as "just a friend", then you have to help him change his perception. One thing you can do is show some of that infamous female jealousy when he talks about other women. Keep in mind not to overdo it, but let him know that you're slightly bothered when he talks about dating someone else. Apply a little coolness around him so he realizes that you're starting to think of him in a different way.
Show Him You're a Woman
Obviously he's not blind; he knows you're a woman. However, he may not see you in the way that he would be attracted to you, so you have to show him. Remember: small steps first. Flirt with him a little bit with what you say. Touch him more. For example, if he gives you a hug, return it, but make it a little more involved. Run your hand up and down his back a little bit. When you look at each other, hold that eye contact a bit longer.
When you are hanging out with him, don't dress as you normally would. Most likely you would just dress comfortably. Start dressing more girly or even sexy. Make it obvious that there's more besides a great friend in you.
Keep in mind that dating your best friend doesn't always have positive results. Despite what you may have heard, however, the chances of something good happening are better than you think. For one, you can eliminate that awkward getting-to-know-you stage since you already know each other. You already know each other in virtually every way except intimately so there isn't much to do except build the friendship and translate into a relationship. Why not take a chance?
