Keeping the Sex Alive While Renovating Your House

House renovation projects can be as fun as they are stressful. Dealing with contractors, trying to meet deadlines, making decisions and not to mention the hard manual labor can be a disaster waiting to happen. It can affect your relationship with each other and take a toll on your sex life. Here are some tips to avoid falling down that path:
  • Firstly you should be focusing on lowering the stress that's involved, which means detailed planning from the outset. Treat the process like a partnership business. Wise partners create a partnership agreement and a plan before going into business together and so should you. Before you start, you should agree in precise detail on what the goals are, your budget, which products you want and what the decision-making processes will be. This will help to alleviate arguments and keep your relationship intact.

  • Make time for each other. Renovations are incredibly time-consuming and if you're both working, it can get tough. Don't lose site over what's important in your life, you still need to have fun and unwind once in a while in order to recharge the batteries. Set down at least one (preferably two or more) date nights a week where you make time for sex. Although it may feel like it's scheduled and unromantic, if you don't do this you'll probably end up having sex only once a month because renovations tend to take over.

  • Marvel at your milestones. Instead of being frustrated that the whole job isn't done yet, look around and fall in love with the small changes that are being made. It's always nice to see something new and improved so enjoying the baby steps shouldn't be hard. Enjoy the journey as much as the destination. It will give you incentive to keep going and will put you in a better mood overall, which is important for getting in the mood for sex.

  • Sort out your priorities early. Your friends and acquaintances may just have to wait for a few months until your life gets back into balance. When your partner's screaming out I want sex! it's OK to skip your friend's birthday party. When time is limited, you need to start being selfish in this way, especially when your relationship and sex life is at risk. If they are good friends, they will understand. If you have time for it all, go for it but remember what's more important for you both.

  • If you have contractors doing work, expect them to clean up after they've finished up for the day. You may need to account for this cost in your budget, but it's worthwhile. If you come home to a nice clean house, you'll be more relaxed about having renovations done and anyway, who wants to get down and dirty when the house is all messed up.

  • Go with a reputable contractor. There's nothing worse than having work delayed or stopped because of a dispute or even ending up in court over the matter. The stress involved with that will surely put a damper on your sex life. Treat it just like buying a really expensive product - read reviews online, ask friends for recommendations and make sure all their qualifications back up.

  • If you're doing some of the work yourself, well that's great. It might be tough but just remember exercise releases endorphins, which is an excellent way to boost your mood. It also keeps you in shape, which means you'll be stronger, leaner and more flexible. This is fantastic for increasing your performance in the bedroom. Maybe you can try some of those daring moves which you may not have been fit enough to do before.
Doing any type of renovation project, whether big or small, can get in the way of your sex life. When you say to yourself I need sex, listen to your body. It's important in your life to keep a happy and healthy relationship and lifestyle, so make sure it doesn't lag behind. The key to remember is to leave your orgasms high in the list of priorities.
