The question that has kept women pondering for centuries: "What the heck does he want in a relationship?" A lot of women think men are afraid of a commitment and a relationship, especially since it's not something they talk about every day. That's only partly true, actually. Some men may have a few fears about a relationship, but it doesn't mean they don't want one. Now, it would be really nice if these guys could just talk to their women about these fears and insecurities, but that's typically not happening. The reason men don't come right out and say their fears is because they don't quite know how to put it into words.
When a couple first starts dating the guy is not really thinking about a relationship or where it's going. It's obvious, though, that after a few dates and things are going well, it's most likely going to turn into a commitment of some sort.
Now if this eventually turns into the ultimate committed relationship of a marriage, everyone needs to understand that it's not the final goal, the end of the "wants" and "needs." Through the life of a marriage, both partners will have their wants and needs continually changing so it's extremely important to keep the lines of communication open on this.
As the relationship grows, women needs to understand how important it is to understand what her man truly needs, which is not always the same as what he wants. It may not always be obvious the difference between the wants and the needs.
Men need women to love them even though they are the crazy beings that they are. She needs to know what he means even though he's not saying it out loud. Wouldn't it be nice if she could read his mind? Now, it may sound a bit cliché, but a man really does want his lady to be enthusiastic about things she may not really be into... such as football on Sundays.
Men feel the need to feel macho around the ladies, even in this day and age. He needs to be the knight in shining armor to his lady. On the flip side of that, whenever he may be feeling a bit low, he needs a woman who will be able to pick him up, boost his self-esteem and really make him feel good about himself. Paying a man compliments really do go a long way.
What a man really wants in a relationship is someone he can trust, someone who's got his back - like a best friend, and someone who truly understands his wants and needs.
