This is a question I have come across many times. Should women make the first move? Should they text or call first? Growing up we were all taught that men are the pursuers, they always make the first move while women graciously wait to be picked up. It is quite a quaint picture, isn't it? We all know mentalities have changed and that sometimes men like to play hard to get and women like to do the pick up.
So, if you are interested in a guy, is it okay to make the first move? Or should you wait around for him to do it?
I don't know if there is one valid answer for everyone, so I asked for more opinions and talked it over with some friends (men and women) and here is what I have found:
MEN ALSO LIKE BEING CHASED. It is a nice change for us...
Of course there are some guys that claim to feel emasculated if a woman makes the first move... making the first move is a great way of finding out if you're guy is one of them. If you are really into him it might not be the best move, but do you really want to go out with a guy that is threatened by you?

Generally speaking if you have already exchanged numbers, guys find it refreshing if you make the first move. It takes off some of the pressure.
Now I'm going to tell you why I personally think texting is better than calling in this situation, meaning when you just met. It's because you don't know each other's schedule and habits all that well and you might be imposing. Or you might call the guy in the middle of a game and he won't be paying enough attention. So, text before calling.
Here are some tips:
1. Keep It Short
Keep the mystery going as I like to say. Keep it short, casual... you don't have to sum up all your life, you just need a little something to get the conversation going. The fun fact is that if I were writing this article for men, I would tell them to use more words.
2. Show Interest
Now that you're at it, it won't hurt to show a little interest for him, for what he does or what he likes. Maybe when you met he told you something that could get you going or maybe you noticed something about him that you liked. Trust me, it will make him feel important and appreciated.
And now, last but not least: the most important thing is to not fear rejection. Yes, there is a slim chance that the guy might reject you, but at least now you will know he is not interested instead of waiting around for him to call. And if he does reject you, it won't be because making the first move was a mistake, because trust me: there is nothing more attractive than a confident woman who goes after what she wants.
